ASSISTING THOSE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS

Homelessness

Volunteers of America works to end homelessness by providing safe shelter, meals, housing support, and essential services such as employment training that pave the way for a brighter future. For every person we reach, many more need our help.

A Safe Haven & Place to Shelter

Volunteers of America provide protection from the freezing winter climate and the scorching summer heat. Extreme temperature ranges can be life-threatening and create an urgent need for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Volunteers of America works to end homelessness through street and mobile outreach. We also operate emergency shelters, drop-in centers, and safe spaces where people can quickly get off the streets.

Transitional Housing

We also provide transitional housing programs with one goal in mind: to help individuals and families find permanent housing as quickly as possible.

Supportive Care

Everyone deserves to have a place to call home. We provide permanent housing coupled with intensive supportive services for people who have mental or physical impairments and cannot live on their own.

Helping Veterans

Every veteran deserves dignity and respect as our nation’s heroes. While the transition back to civilian life can be difficult, we are here to help provide rapid rehousing, transitional, permanent, and affordable housing to veterans and their families.

“If Volunteers of America hadn’t been there, my kids would have stayed with foster parents and I might be living under a bridge,” she said. “I say ‘partners’ because they help me and work with me.”
